The Nickel Plate Bar and Grill restaurant can be found in the greater Indianapolis suburb, fast-growing Fishers, in Central Indiana. One of the grand old bars of the Heartland, the Nickel Plate is also a popular Fishers restaurant. With a neat location in the Fishers downtown “Old Town” sector, the Nickel Plate occupies a historic edifice built in the 1880s. The first occupants, in fact, also ran a saloon.
Renovations and expansions made use of the original brick walls and archways and incorporated a private dining room, a patio, a family area and a full bar with a long wood-trimmed counter. The restaurant sports a lot of wood, in fact, which sets off the textures of the red brick walls nicely. All in all, the place is functional and warm, with many interesting and subtle decorative touches, used sparingly.
The Nickel Plate Bar and Grill menu runs the gamut from appetizers to burgers to soups and salads to entrees and desserts. There’s even a kids’ menu, too; after all, it’s as much a restaurant as it is a bar. On the menu are tried and true plates of edible Americana such as the Bison Burger, Louisiana Catfish, Buffalo Chicken Wrap, Fish and Chips, Hobo Stew, Box Car Chili (cowboy style) and a fresh and spicy Cajun Chicken salad.
Try the White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake for dessert. Fishers kids love it and you will too.
